"I went in search of Intercol, an emporium of playing cards, maps, coins and oddities but discovered that it had gone and in its place it this lovely shoe shop filled with fabulous foot fashion. I mourn … but when something as pleasing as this takes its place, it’s like seeing the bulbs coming up after a long winter…(cue the orchestral crescendo), tears well in the eyes, and I take my boots off in readiness to start trying things on."
